"Light is Knowledge"

"Light dwelleth in darkness, but the darkness knows not."

Great works are done with consistency and of great measure. Every stone is not a fit for the temple, so take out your rule and gauge the dimensions of character and each individuals willingness to work together.

Faith, Hope, and Charity has built temples for thousands of years.  Ego and self centered leaders have destroyed many of these great works.  Freemasonry has stood the test of time.

How To Wear The Scottish Rite Cap an Greet a Sovereign Grand Commander of the Rite....

”Wearing the cap is in good taste is appropriate for a positive Scottish Rite image, it is time to educate the general public regarding the crown, who is wearing it, and the organization it represents.”

If the apron is the "badge of a Mason" in the Blue Lodge, the cap can be said to be the public badge of a Scottish Rite Mason. In our Order, the cap is both a prayer cap in the Jewish tradition and a symbol of the Scottish Rite Mason as a soldier in the "Empire of Intellect, Reason, Philosophy, and Wise Morality" (32°). Similarly, a crown was worn by English knights, including the Templars, and was later given a military significance by British regimental soldiers in the 19th century.

The crown is considered a part of the uniform and is treated as such. Consequently, it must not be removed when the flag is passing, while saying the Pledge of Allegiance, or participating in prayer. On such occasions as the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance or the performance of the national anthem in song or music, the cap remains on the head, and the Scottish Rite Mason places his right hand on his heart.

During prayer, the cap remains in place, but the head is slightly bowed and the hands are placed in the "Sign of the Good Shephard", the arm folded over the right with fingers outstretched and touching the shoulders comfortably. This dignified position reflects the compassionate spirit of the Scottish Rite in recalling the Good Shephard as He carried a lamb over His neck holding its feet with crossed arms.

The sign of the 'Good Shepard' is also used to greet  a Sovereign Grand Commander in his official capacity.

The wearing of the Scottish Rite crown is during pledge or alligence and prayer is left to the discretion of the Sovereign Grand Inspector General or Deputy in his Orient. The Supreme Council agreed that, if wearing the cap is in good taste and appropriate for a positive Scottish Rite image, it is time to educate the general public regarding the cap, who is wearing it, and the organization it represents.

'Growth is progress but progress requires direction'   When you believe you can achieve.......

"Remember we are Freemasons and members of the worlds oldest fraternity of men.. organized under the fatherhood of GOD for the brotherhood of men.. "

ILL. Keith West, 33,  S.G.I.G. Grand Provincial Grand Master of Virginia.

Message From M.P.S.G.C.:

New States, territories and dependencies are joining us to  advance the Scottish Rite.

We are expecting great works in Freemasonry within the next 10 years.

Neither color, race, origin or religion will no longer be a focus of division.

All Scottish Rite bodies in America will eventually work in Amity with tolerance    to support the rite's cause -

'Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.'

"Stand at the crossroads and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it... find rest for your souls." (Jeremiah 6:16)

        What is an Orient?

An Orient  means east or upper level, and its commonly called a Grand Orient which is the subordinate body of a Supreme Council. The Orient works the 4th-32nd degree, but only a Supreme Council can award degrees after the 18th or Rose Croix Degree.

What is Provincial Grand Master?

The office of  'Provincial ' Grand Master was founded by the craft in 1726 -

1. Where the Grand Lodge felt it needed an Officer in place, where is it not always possible to wait for a decision or opinion of the National Grand Lodge.

2. The appointment of this Grand Officer is a prerogative of the National Grand Master; who grants his deputation to such brother of eminence and ability, in the Craft, as shall think proper, not for life, but during his good pleasure.

3. The Provincial thus is deputed , is invested with the power and honor of Deputy Grand Master; and, during the continuance of his Provincialship, is entitled to wear the clothing, to take and the Grand Officers, in all public assembles, immediately after the past Deputy Grand Masters, and constitute Lodges approved by the Natonal Grand Lodge within his on Province.

4. He is required to correspond with the National Grand Lodge, and transmit a circumstantial account of his proceedings quarterly. At which times, the Provincial is required to send a list of those lodges he has constistuted, by the Grand Masters authority.

Good fellowship as brethren:

If there is any place in the world where cordiality and good fellowship should reign supreme it is at our Lodge Meetings.

If you are not acquainted with those who sit beside you then the true spirit of Freemasonry is not present. "Get busy." Wear a smile, and say "Brother my name is ....... What is yours?"

The happiness derived from doing deeds of kindness is the highest the purest, and the most lasting of human enjoyments as Masons.

Make difference in your Lodge, be the better men. Do your part, we build on our accomplishments....

One day we'll look back and say,
" I am a part of something bigger than myself, a Brotherhood of men dedicated to building a better community with the help of the Grand Architect of the Universe."

MESSAGE FROM MPSGC:

                      'CHARITY'

"
It is the saddest of all sights upon this earth, that of a man lazy and luxurious … to whom want appeals in vain, and suffering cries in an unknown tongue. He is the faithless steward, that embezzles what God has given him in trust for the impoverished and suffering among his brethren." "Charity is the great channel through which God passes all His mercy upon mankind." "God himself is love; and every degree of charity that dwells in us is the participation of the Divine nature."

Albert Pike, Sovereign Grand Commander, Supreme Council of United States, ASSR, SJ
